We were very welcomed at Bognor today. What a lovely day for a great match. We had 16 boys ready for the match today. Felix Mason, Cameron Mander (pack Captain), Harvey Norris, Ben Carpenter, Ewan Shepherd, Sean Shepherd, Ray Carter, Frank Carter, Daniel Hook, Nathan Funnell, William Calvert (captain), A J Holmes, Finnbar Broxup, Connor Fairhell, Dylan Piggot, Ollie Dixon-Szul. This was our first competition match of the season.
We started the day will some good training exercises and some scrum practice and some kicking practice. the boys got some great warm up exercises then they all went and got changed ready for their match to start.
Shoreham started with the first kick off. our boys managed to get a good start on running the ball down towards their end and they manage to defend the ball and with some turning over of the ball and winning of the scrum Connor Fairhell scored our first try and with William Calvert converting the try put us in the lead. We went back to a kick start and Bognor managed to get the ball toward their end but Shoreham managed to turn over the ball and get it back down their end but Bognor turned over the ball again and managed to run it down the line and score a try. their kicker missed the try. From the center line Shoreham managed to keep the ball down their end with some great turning over of the ball and a few throw ins Connor managed to weave his way in through the Bognor boys and scored our second try. William Calvert then converted our try. With time running out Bognor managed to score but missed the conversion. Half time score Bognor 12 v Shoreham 14
The second half was a little more of the same of the first half. Same amazing rugby and defense coming from our boys. The first try for the second half was from Shoreham from Finnbar Broxup and William Calvert then converted it. there was a lot of turning over of the ball and some throw in from both ends of the pitch and some really great scrums but Shoreham managed to score a second try from Connor Fairhell and William Calvert managed to score the conversion. With some more really great rugby both side kept the ball from their end. Some really great scrummages, line outs and defensive lines Bognor managed to score a final try but unfortunately didn't get the conversion. Final Score Bognor 17 v Shoreham 28.
